Imagery – Mark Greenmantle Photography

My work was first internationally published in 2005 with a magazine cover and feature for a UK based publication which focused on historical costume and museum work. At the time I’d been working with a daily newspaper being mentored by some of Australia’s most awarded news photographers. I had been working as designer and image editor for years at that stage, broadly within the arts and news markets, and eventually I sought to create imagery that required elements I couldn’t source elsewhere. I switched from an analogue Nikon FM-2 film camera to a Nikon D-70 and barely put it down until it finally wore out and I did my first upgrade to full frame digital in 2007.

A love for the challenge of shooting in difficult lighting found me enjoying live music editorial coverage, dance, and vintage fashion shoots at events where even in full sun a perfect studio style shot can be achieved.

Along that journey of seeking new challenges through the lens I met aircraft owners – specifically in the warbird aviation sector, and a passion for producing high quality aviation imagery was nurtured while on the ground and in the air where formation flights of vintage aircraft became one of my favourite subjects. The warbird photography landed me in commercial and editorial shoots around Australia, New Zealand, and through the United States, and finds me as the photographic coordinator for the Brisbane Airshow.

Commercial Photography

My commercial has found me with opportunities to work with a wide range of clients, from sportspeople, to newsreaders, to web personalities, to rock musicians, from real estate clients, to disabled veterans, to military leadership, from creating art with a Bengal cat, to making portraits for the then Prime Minister.

My aviation imagery will always be my biggest photographic niche, but as you can see, there is still range.
