Getting the call, “I need an expert stills shooter for aviation, I thought of you first”, is about my fav way to kick off any day. One of the challenges of photographing helicopters in formation is striving for the most rotor blur as possible. This is the helicopter photoshoot “holy grail” of captures showing the full disk pattern. You can see this below as the AW-139 hovers over the grass. The RACQ CapRescue Babcock crews from Rockhampton in Queensland were fantastic professionals and furthermore, they’re lovely folk to work with.
